The Kawkabani Brothers, a Yemeni folk trio composed of the brothers Abdul Wahab, Saad and Mohammed Al-Kawkabani that appeared in 1974. Being a major part of the Yemeni art scene, their musical journey consisted of 1300 songs.
Al-Kawkabani Brothers who were a trio composed of the brothers Abdul Wahab, Saad and Mohammed Al-Kawkabani always distinguished their songs with a distinctive colour of music and lyrics that were so close to the souls of Yemeni people.
They sang an approximate of 200 songs along with 1100 more that engaged various topics. Interesting enough, some of their most well-known song lyrics were then used as a traditional proverbs that were recognized in every Yemeni house.
The trio had a huge following both at a national level and a regional level, their contribution wasn’t only a vital addition to the Yemeni art scene but rather to the Middle Eastern art scene.
They belong to ‘Amran Governorate and started their first musical appearance was in Aden in 1974.
Two of the trio, Abdul Wahab and Mohammed Al-Kawkabani recently passed away and only Saad Al-Kawkabani is alive –May God prolong his life-.
